Cannot pay in China with Alipay

Hi,
When I try to pay for the PRO version, I want to use Alipay as it is one of the options. I successfully get the SMS after inputting my phone number, but then I add my ID and when I click to pay, it says there is something wrong with my connection. If I try with my phone is the same problem, it just wont work.

I love your app and want to get the premium version, please fix it if you want to get your money

同样问题,并且我还被扣了210

Translation: I have the same problem, but my account was still deducted the 210 RMB.

Her full problem is here:

Hi @egarin31 - Can you confirm you have a stable network connection? Can you try over wifi?

HI
Yes I have tried with wifi and with my stable data connection, both fail. other people have the same problem, must be a connection with Alipay payment platform.
Thanks

In reference to “stable” network connection, is it something not going through because of Chinese internet…for example, something that needs to work through a Google connection, for instance?

嗯… 在中国 谷歌是不行的。
阿里巴巴也就是支付宝是很流行的。我也是忠实用户,但是忆术家这里 真的是很糟糕
另,感谢你的翻译

I have tried with regular data connection, also using a VPN (which skips the chinese firewall), none work.
This company obviously has a problem with China payment, because the other girl has a problem paying with Paypal in China.
I won’t use my credit card for a payment online, that is why I use Alipay, or she uses Paypal.
If you cannot get fixed online payment through safe payment methods, forget about chinese market.

Hi, any discovery about the payment issues with AliPay?

thanks!

Hi,

We monitored the AliPay payments, but haven’t noticed any other errors for users when purchasing Memrise via this route. It’s possible these were 2 isolated cases.

Is this payment method still giving you issues?

Are you able to try on another device? (i.e. sign in to your Memrise account on another device, and attempt to purchase pro).

Sorry, I don’t have the question personally, I just saw the opportunity to translate the above Chinese text. Although we are in China, most of us use our foreign-based accounts if we sign up for Pro.
