It’s so difficult to remember many of these words and combinations, especially without explanation from people who put down mems. I remember being able to read some weird word (Like Konnichiha instead of Konnichiwa) and someone would explain it to me and give me a way to remember it. Or things like Desu, Masu, polite particles, when I have absolutely no clue what a polite particle is. The mems used to explain it all to me and make these courses a thousand times easier. They also used to have many pictures to make memorizing long words like Gomennasai much easier.
Now I’m just stuck here trying to memorize random combinations of letters and symbols without actually knowing why I’m doing them, and without any memonic assistance. It’s making these courses so much more frustrating.
Interesting. I’m actually cool if Memrise or course creators are given the option to lock down un-moderated mems. It is Memrise’s official course and the one most likely seen by first time visitors, so I get that they don’t want a troll mem-poster messing with that.
While I personally wouldn’t activate it, I’m sure some course creators would love the option to have their courses as “Public mems must be moderated” set-up. Even more would like a better way to browse/moderate mems for their courses.
No they aren’t. Not on official Memrise courses. So the actual website that created the whole “mems” thing, has courses without “mems”. Making the courses much more difficult to learn.
But the official Memrise course is now that much harder to learn because it doesn’t have the signature memory retaining tools. Why would official courses be harder to learn than some random community made course? Doesn’t that seem silly?
