The question was about the profile picture (the avatar), not about using gifs in messages.

I tried uploading a gif as a profile picture, but it didn’t appear to animate after being uploaded. I think the system just uses the first frame of the gif.

And yep, like the others have said, you can change your username, but only if the new one you want isn’t already taken. :slight_smile:

Edit: I meant you can change your username on the Memrise site. I’m not sure about here on the forum; I haven’t found a way.

There are several users that have gifs as profile pictures that do animate, for example: http://www.memrise.com/user/Mophy/ There might be some file restrictions or maybe it takes a little while to start animating if the file is bigger.

I changed my community.memrise username by changing it on memrise.com. I just thought it didnt work because it took a while to register.:smiley:

I was possible to do by just changing the extension from .gif to .jpg. However it doesn’t see to work any more for me.
