I forgot the Pronunciation even existed. I really like Classic Review so I grind it there. Would be great to grind my pronunciation too. Its possible I turned it off in the past and forgot.
Do you mean, can you add audio files to a course and then test your listening skills?
Only some of the official memrise courses have a pronunciation tester, where you can record your version of a phrase or word and see if the memrise programme deems it an accurate rendition.
I wouldnāt use the term āpronunciationā for the addition of audio files as it is a bit confusing.
Iām not entirely sure what you mean by āgrind my pronunciationā, though. Do you mean āimproveā?
You can grind coffee beans, but not your pronunciation (at least, not in any variety of English I am familiar with)
No pronunciation is actually a mode you can chose on the app. That is what I mean.
In the American English dialect and possibly other dialects grinding is slang for working hard and to keep trying at something.
This mode is only available for selected official memrise courses, Iām afraid, not for any of the community courses available on Decks. You will find courses with audio files that you can listen to, but not the special pronunciation mode when your voice is recorded.
I do a cheat version of that to practise my Swedish pronunciation and talk to Google Translate and watch it write down what I say
Ah, good to know! In British English we only use āgrindā in that way when it is a noun, but not as a verb, to my knowledge. āThe daily grind of household chores really gets me down sometimesā would be something we could say in British English.
Just found this on Merriam-Webster, " especially : to study hard . grind for an exam"
You live and learn! Thanks for teaching me a new bit of American English
