I couldn’t find this item in Memrise database, so I’m guessing this is in a course that a fellow user created. You might want to mention the course name in the topic so that the creator will pick up on this:) Thanks!

Probably the figure Hotmatcha posted is from the old course (first version): Japanese 3. But it is not possible to know if it is from the course for British English speakers or for American English speakers.

At level 2, the kanji 公 appears. See the figure below:

However, KanaTsumoto has already verified that the problem is not in the course, but it is an app bug:
