Automatic renewal refund

my subscription automatically renewed today without any prior warning. I no longer use Memrise, and I would like to request a refund. Upon finding out, I have cancelled my subscription in the app, which now says it will be active until Apr 17 2021 (today). However, I have also received an e-mail from Google Play that my subscription will expire on Apr 17 2022, and no refunds will be issued.

The Memrise refund page says I have no subscriptions eligible for refunds. Google Play has also already denied my request for a refund. Is accidental automatic subscription renewal covered under the 30 days refund guarantee? Is there anything I can do to receive a refund?
