the web interface does this both in learning and review mode. I mean… d’oh… 
AFAIK “Mute Audio” is something different than the lower right button “Turn off audio questions for 30 minutes”.
Did you click on it while you do reviews?
There is another option:
There is a 4th option in the “All Typing Settings” on the left configuration panel called “Replace Audio Multiple Choice”.
I’m aware of the different options, and of the ability to completely suppress audio questions via script.
My point really is that the system knows that, at that point, I’m not able to hear things (clicking the blue dots does not yield any sound, so the mute option is respected in that regards!), so would ideally take this into account and not present audio questions, either
