Ugh. Let’s just say I’ve always been partially interested in Memrise pro, and if my free time changed enough to allow me to make enough use of it, I’d already be a member.
That being said, the removal of the ability to download courses for regular Memrise users as a way to sweeten the deal for getting pro is a bit horrid.
Guess I’ll need to get back to using Anki on the go.
I’ve said this before, but for teachers this is a real loss. I can’t ask my students to buy pro, and they used to be able to download the courses to do on the bus, waiting around etc.
Such a shame and not a positive change.
I think this is really unfortunate. Memrise is a great option for endangered languages, but the cost to download is a real problem, especially for communities with few resources and limited internet access. Please consider a free download option!
it is realy sad to see that memrise only focuses on money nowadays $$$$. Beside the big p.i.t.a. of no free course downloads they keep changing the app design and target only on catching new users. They do not care about the usability for people who really use memrise.
This thread wasn’t made to complain about the layout, but to complain about the charge for downloading courses, which was padded onto pro because people didn’t think pro was paying for beforehand - unsure if that really changed any membership numbers. But keep in mind, if you like anything that is free about Memrise today, remember, any part of it could be “pro” tomorrow. Enjoy your learning - while it lasts.
I agree with you there. It is so sad but it does feel like they are caring more about the money of new users vs making sure all users new and old have the best expierience.
