[App Feedback] A Simple Thing to Make Learning More Enjoyable

I really love using memrise while in the plane or bus while traveling, to learn or get better in a foreign language, however there is one thing that is really bugging me with the app:

  • When you are taking a course, it often happends that you actually already know some of the words, however there is absolutely no way to stop them from showing up.

To solve this, you should be able to mark a word a “learnt” or “add to ignore list” (so it doesn’t show up in revision neither) during learning and revision session. This should also indeed work in offline mode.

It would just make the whole process of learning/improving a language less painfull!

What do you guys think about it?

PS: This also apply to website version, I know you can add to ignore list in the course word list, but you can’t auto learn selected words nor there is the option to autolearn/ignore appear when you are doing a learning session/revision.

But there is ignoring button on app

Thanks! Seems it’s just hard to click on my tablet >.<.
However it doesn’t work in offline mode, where it would be the most useful as you don’t have access to memrise website

Auto-Learn (for one - currently learning - single word) is back by cooljingle’s new user script for the WEB: [Userscript] Memrise Auto Learn

Sorry only web, not app.
I perfectly understand that you want to learn new words when you move around.

Cooljingle has many more user scripts like “Wrong answer skips” for review (again on the web): http://community.memrise.com/t/userscript-wrong-answer-skips/

However, I would advise against using the mobile app for words review (watering), as you can not use all those powerful user scripts like

  • “Wrong answer skips” (3->1 incorrect answer repetition reduction)
  • or “All typing” to really focus on RECALLING instead of false remembering (multiple choice, type what you hear, tapping, etc.).
