A new iOS version was released today. I wonder if anyone has installed it yet, and if so, is there (still) a timer in it ? Are the pop-up Pro ads gone ? Any comments would gladly be welcomed.
(Note: The short description in the iOS store for this update does not mention any specifics about what is in the new release, hence this forum post). Thank you.
(To forum moderators: I labeled this post under the iOS Bugs category, but if you want to move it somewhere else, feel free to do so. I am not reporting any new bugs, just asking about the status of some existing bugs from a previous iOS update.)
My iOS app says in Settings > About Memrise: āv 1.0 (212386)ā.
The pop-up Pro ads are gone in this version. (As I reported in the post reporting the problem: iOS app often asks me to āGo Proā - I already am!)
@iwfl ~ the iOS app store is listing it as the most recent version of Memrise available to download. My iPad lists v, 2.2.28 (2813) under Settings > About Memrise. (That is why 2.2.29 would be an update to v 2.2.28).
I donāt have a timer on my iPad, but some on v. 2.2.28 do (unfortunately). I do have the pop-up Pro ads, as do others. I just make sure to no longer learn a complete level so I donāt have see them any more. This is why I was asking the questions that I did.
I have heroically/recklessly* (* delete as appropriate) taken the 2.2.29 update.
Iāve done some reviewing and some planting but havenāt spotted anything different.
I wasnāt seeing the clock (or the ācome back in 4 hoursā message) or any pop-up Pro ads before and still am not seeing any. I completed planting a level in one course and, although I got a pop-up, it only said that I had learned 49 words in that level and that the next level has 51 words. The pop-up had a link to the circled symbol in the daily target box in the top left corner of the screen.
Also no sign of new avatarsā¦so far as I can see.
@alanh ~ thanks for the insight. This sounds encouraging. I like to try to stay on the bleeding edge with Memrise, so I will probably upgrade tomorrow. Have a good day !
I donāt know why I didnāt think of this before, but if the 4 hour timer is a new way of trying to get people to buy pro but a lot of people arenāt seeing this issue, I bet Memrise made it so that if your account was created long enough ago, you donāt get the timer, even if you donāt have pro, just like how older non-pro accounts have the ability to download courses for offline use but newer ones donāt.
