Annoying multiple choice only for reviewing

On my own course, I’m getting multiple-choice only when reviewing now. This didn’t happen at first, first it was typing only and multiple choice if I got it wrong a first time. But not it gives me these multiple-choice only reviewing… How can this be turned off? This is extremely annoying. I like the old way of typing only, multiple-choice when getting something wrong (followed by typing again).

But this annoying multiple-choice only trash I’m getting now is absolutely terrible and unwanted, it frustrates me a looooot.

Edit: installed a typing only script now. Still a downgrade since I liked typing-only but when you made an error it gave a multiple choice once and then typing again, which I liked.

Hi! Have you checked you didn’t accidentally turn of typing in editing mode?

Nope, didn’t turn anything off. My best guess would be that it asks words I’ve gotten wrong “last time” first and that it gives me multiple choice instead of typing for those. I’ve installed a script that turns everything into a typing exercise which kinda fixes it.

Memrise has had a system for as long as I remember where if you go a while (maybe over 24 hours?) without reviewing an item that the system considers to be ‘sensitive’, like something you just learned or had just gotten wrong, it will prompt you with multiple choice next time. I agree that it’s annoying, but I remember seeing one of the staff explain this on the old forum, so it’s an intended feature if that’s what you’re talking about, and it isn’t happening with everything.

However, while I’ve been aware of that feature for quite a while now, I’ve still found myself running into it quite a bit more lately. It’s possibly just due to some small changes in my routine (which would mean that it’s less than 24 hours to trigger it), but I’m also wondering if they changed the time that you’re given before getting the multiple choice questions recently.

Thanks for your reply, that’s good to know. It’s very annoying in my opinion since it doesn’t allow me to first “try” if I fully remember it.

The “solution” is to install cooljingle’s “all-typing” user script.
It has a customization setting box on the left panel.

For official Memrise courses and >15 characters they also changed it that multiple-choice get’s displayed vs normal typing.
So typing (if activated) would only be used for shorter words.
You can see that additional option in the all-typing settings panel.

You could checkout 50languages courses on Memrise with all-typing user script and you will see that is working great.
I also have this script working fine in the “typing only” mode for (official) PT Basic, PT1-3 courses.

So reviewing words/phrases for any Memrise course ALWAYS always shows me the text input box, where I have to RECALL + type the word/phrase/sentence instead of some silly multiple-choice only remembering brain mode, which would be WAY TOO EASY (like speed review where multiple-choice is activated).
