Greetings fellow gakusei! I have just started 125 most useful Japanese verbs and after my studying tonight and I feel that this whole month of September will be spent on not only learning them, but also retaining of the verbs. I feel that I will be able to retain them but I am worried that I will not be able to retain them when I move along into grammar lessons and such. What are others using as a time table for each lesson that is being learned before moving to a new lesson? Ganbattene and ganbarimasu!
Well, I don’t know anything about Japanese specifically, but the point of Memrise is that it uses a ‘‘spaced repetition system’’ (SRS).
Once you’ve learned an item, it will be ready for reviewing again at increasing intervals IF you get the review correct, or shorter intervals if you haven’t learned it. So, in theory, items you aren’t retaining will be re-tested until you do remember them. Trust the system for now and see how it works for you
I suggest just learning items at a rate you feel comfortable with, but keep up with your reviewing and see how the SRS works for you for a few weeks.
Happy learning
Thank you very much for the insight. I do get a sense that the Speed Review will assist in the retention and/or memorizing. Just aiming to maintain ganba overall with this journey.
