All my language courses now simple testing

Hope you can resume enjoying them.
I’ve always thought Memrise is good for revision and learning individual new words. However, I’ve always begun learning a language by taking out a teach yourself language book from my library. Books explain how language and grammar work. More to the point, books don’t tear up your notes (which the abolition of Memrise’s forums effectively did) and books don’t change the rules of learning half-way through.
To those of you who ask: ‘What’s the alternative to Memrise?’, my answer is: none - online, that is. If you really want to learn a language afresh without shelling out for evening courses or Rosetta Stone, visit your local library.
For all the reasons above, you will never see a star next to my name here.
