Hi Dear Memrisers,
my question would be if it is possible to add a word manually (so not by mistake making) to the Difficult words group?
Thank you in advance for your answer & best regards!
Nope, the only way to create a DW is by locating it and then flagging it as difficult. That means you have to either stumble over it during a review session or locate it in its level.
Unfortunately, there is no means for users to locate a specific item within a course, unless you’re its author, that is.
To work around this, I’d suggest to add the word-list add-on to Memrise (web only). It allows you to retrieve a list containing all words within a given course, including the level a word is on (optional). This way you can at least locate the level and then flag it there.
See this post for more information:
Hi @imalion, another option would be to make a text file of the entire course of interest, then search in the text file itself or a spreadsheet (after copy-and-pasting the text file into a spreadsheet file).
The text file will include Level numbers and Level headings.
To make a text file, use can use:

I think you may need to do this on the Web, by the way.
If you’re an Android user this should become a lot easier within the next week…
At present on Android you have two main places
- if you know the level click the level and you can mark words as known or difficult
- if you encounter it in learning session you can mark and unmark words from the end of session screen and using the triple dot menu on some screens during sessions
On iOS you can mark them as difficult when first presented with a word or on a level details screen click a word and then you can mark or unmark as difficult
That’s great: my link to Memrise Scraper no longer worked which is why I didn’t link it in my previous posting. Its use doesn’t require any browser-installation, so I’d definitely recommend its usage over the Word List Tool I mentioned further up!
