I’ve been using Memrise for a few months but there are some things I don’t quite understand yet:
Why are there two different forums, and which is the “correct” one to use? There is this one (that I’m posting this in) and also one here: www.memrise.com/forum. I find it very confusing when the site alternates between the two depending on where I click from.
Why is it possible to learn more words than a course has, and what does it mean when that happens? For example, in HSK 1 Memrise tells me, “786 / 781 words learned (762 in long term memory)”. Is it a bug?
Is there any way to force the search function to apply the AND operator to my search terms instead of OR? For example, if I search for “maths gcse” I will get all courses that contain maths and all courses than contain gcse. I want to only find courses that contain maths AND gcse. I’ve tried adding a + in front of both words, or enclosing them in speech marks, but neither helps.
The forum we’re posting on now is the newly released forum, and the ‘correct’ one to post in. The other forum is the older one, and is due to shut down around the end of the month.
That sounds like an issue with the course’s database updating. Sometimes, when the course creator or a contributor adds or removes an entry in the course, it will fail to update the count. If you have any way of contacting the creator, you could request that they try going to the level editor and clicking “Save & Continue” at the bottom. I’ve had luck with that triggering an update. Sometimes it just takes a while.
I can’t help on 3, I’m afraid, as I still have no experience with the new search bar. Hopefully someone else knows.
