2nd & 3rd Person Plural -- you plural formal & informal

I was thrown off when working on the Spanish (Mexico) lessons and Memrise indicated that “van” was “you informal plural.” [I don’t remember the exact order of the words.]

I know that’s HOW it’s used, but it would be more accurate to say that “van” means “you (plural) go” because “van” (and all verbs conjugated in the 3rd person plural) means “they go,” “you (plural formal) go” and “you (plural informal) go.”

This would also make it easier for those of us who also study Castilian or speak with people from Spain.
