More teaching than learning (if you look at my points) - but that’s a good way to learn

Been a while hasn’t it? I’m using Memrise as a tool for my French studies. As well as making some of my own courses for personal revision.

That’s cool that you make your own courses!

I tried learning French before. A lot of my family lives in France, so I thought i’d learn some. It’s very difficult, but very beautiful! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Two Izzi ! That’s funny!
Well, if you peak into my profile you will only find Cornish courses.
I might leave Memrise next year, at least the subscription because I’m starting to learn to read text and take all the vocabulary here to a conversation level.
I enjoy Cornish learning very much and all the courses here in Memrise helped me a lot.

Huh! I had no idea you could learn piano chords on Memrise.
I do a little of everything, especially because the video recordings are fun.
courses I do somewhat seriously: French, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic
courses I do a little bit just out of interest: Russian, Latin, Latin Phrases, German, Spanish, Italian, Amharic Abugida and Colloquial Amharic Vocabulary.

Hi Izzy and Izzi! :joy:Yeah, it’s been a while! Summer means more work for me. I repair or restore old “things” ( I don’t want to give too many details…) and maybe that is one of the the reasons why I dedicate my free time to Cornish: it feels good to revive an old forgotten language.
And…I have super fantastic news: I found two wonderful people to learn and practice Cornish!

So, how are you doing with your courses here? Have you tried practicing on chats?

Hi Izzi! Nice to meet you!
If you want to hear how it sounds go to Radio An Gernewegva.

There is a strong connection between Cornwall and France since old times. One of the five dialects of Breton is called Cornish (Kerneveg in Breton, Kernewek in Cornish).

I’ve been okay during the summer but I’m glad it’s fall now! That’s great that your still practicing Cornish, It’s such a interesting language! I might learn another language on Memrise but I’m not sure which one :slightly_smiling_face: I’m really glad you both got to know eachother

What languages do you know apart from English and Latin. Maybe you could learn some French or Russian? I practice them as well but I’m still not fluent. I’m fluent in German, Spanish and Portuguese. I grew up bilingual plus dialects so I think that makes it easier to learn languages. Another interesting language that is almost extinct is Sanskrit. I think there’s a village in India where everybody still speaks it.
The best part of winter is that I stop working full time and I have more time to learn Cornish and enjoy nature with my family.
