I’ve changed the name of the file so that it should be easier to install using Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey/etc. Follow the link to the script that’s in the original post to install the new file or to update your old one.

It looks like this isn’t working at the moment. I’m not sure if it was never working or if a Memrise update broke the script.
I’ve just run the script with Tampermonkey in MS Edge and it looks like it’s done the job. Thanks 
Ah, okay, interesting. Have you tested it to make sure that the phantom entries are gone? I have a course that I’ve been running the script on, but the script seems to not be working for it. I’m not sure why.
Sorry for the delay in coming back. I don’t know how check deeper into the database, but running reviews etc daily, no phantom entries have reappeared as of yet.

Does this script work in Firefox? I added to Greasemonkey, enabled the script, and went to the add level page on my courses but I’m not seeing the option to eliminate phantom levels.
Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

Your script works well, thanks very much for sharing it.
I’ve used it on four courses, about 3000 words total. About one in a hundred words does not turn green but grey. Does the grey mean anything?

Entries are marked as gray when they already appeared in an earlier level in the course. This can actually be a good way to tell when you’re teaching the same item more than once in a course, although that wasn’t my intent

That is a useful feature (although some of the double entries I had were intentional).
And because all levels are unfolded in the process you can actually search for a word in all levels at once. 
Haha, ya, the script ended up having some nice, unintentional side effects
I use chrome and all phantom entries have disappeared on the pc, with a smartphone all entries with an erased stress remain, for example: сы́плю —> сыплю both words pop up at the same time and one needs to know he has to choose the one without the stress.

Are you sure that the course has been totally refreshed on the app? If you’re using it in offline mode, can you try deleting the course from the phone and redownloading it?
