Strict-typing breaks a course

I am taking a course in Georgian

this is the main reason why I use memrise and why I pay for memrise. Lately, however, I found that my android app started to require strict-typing. This wonderful course that was made free by your user is now broken.

In the course, there are some words that are written using hyphens to separate prefixes and suffixes. Some words, however, don’t use them. This was never a problem, but with the strict-typing, the course is now unusable. If this is not fixed I will be forced to cancel my subscription and find another tool to learn.

Totally agree with the annoyance of having to use strict typing on android. I made all my own courses to not require it, yet I’m required to do so when learning on my mobile. This is infuriating.

Hello,

why don’t you try the Memrise web portal then, especially for reviewing?

Website’s “Auto accept” (jump to next question) + the latest Memrise Wednesday update IMHO destroys “non-strict typing” courses, including the offical Memrise 1-7 courses.

There is a user script to turn OFF “Auto accept”, and you can use Cooljingle’s “all typing” user script to force typing: http://community.memrise.com/t/userscript-memrise-all-typing

But somehow the last Memrise update has crashed all “non-strict typing” courses (including the offical 1-7) or the multiple choice -> typing transformation is not correctly working anymore, as no clearfix keyboard is shown on screen (e.g copy typing dialogs): [Userscript] Memrise all typing
But it was working before, even with Cooljingle’s user scripts!!!
Now it doesn’t.
So, for 99% Memrise has tweaked code on their side (there have been too many complains on the forum about Japan/Korean, etc. languages with hinted onscreen keyboards - like the Android app; maybe this is the reason “clearfix keyboard” was turned OFF for sentences).

The best way to workaround ALL issues (if you do not want to type accents / diacretics) IMHO is to use Cooljingle’s “Auto correct” user script, which fixes diacretics for both “non-strict-typing” and “strict-typing” courses.

But of course, this is not an option for your Android app, but only for the web portal and installed Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey Firefox or Chrome browser addons.

Anyways, you should NOT use the Android app for reviews because of multiple reasons (too many hints, no typing activated all the time, stupid multiple-choice exercises, false positives for SR intervals into the future, etc.)

You can also disable the website timer by the user script “Timer disabler”, if you wonder!
