Just to be clear, Mems are not in the files you’ll have returned.
Personally I won’t be saying much on this thread as it’s not the area of product I work on so I can’t contribute anything useful I’m afraid.
Hi there! Good to know that at least some of you are reading!
Yes, I know! But I think they should - the statement by Memrise was ~that the file contains all the information that is related to a personal account and stored on servers / in databases operated by Memrise (sorry, can’t find it quickly / right now).
Mems, being part of my personal information, should thus be part of such a file.
Thanks, duly noted! But maybe you could forward this to whoever would be appropriate, maybe @MemriseSupport?
Sorry I was clarifying for DW7 in case he’d misread and had his or anyone else’s hopes up.
Everything on this and the other threads is being read by multiple members of staff but responses are limited until there is something more concrete to say because we don’t want to inadvertently mislead anyone, but discussions are underway on what can potentially be done, one option of which is adjusting the output of that job.
@Olaf.Rabbachin or other:
-
does the file get sent to my email address and how long does it take to arrive? I’ve not found it.
-
is there a way to download courses on a computer? (I don’t want to save courses to my phone memory - certainly not my internal memory.)
I’ve done a sample download of a course but can’t actually find where it is stored. Its not in “downloads”.
- How does one delete a download from the App?
Can @MemriseSupport help?
It will become available for download from the same page of your profile settings. You should receive an email notification when the file is ready.
There is at least this tool I am aware of. Although, if you mean using the downloaded data on the Memrise site itself, then I doubt there is a way.
I noticed the review that covers all courses that I usually start with every day, disappeared entirely with the beta version. Are we expected to review individual courses rather than a mix of all together? Why remove this wonderful feature? Please bring back the overall review feature. I don’t understand why a website like Memrise is doing so much to push its users away like this. Just doesn’t make sense. The competition will gladly create what Memrise refugees are asking for.
It wasn’t removed, though it is now harder to access. You need to open the side panel first using the arrow button on the right.
You’re probably looking for this.
@BenWhately I been working on my course for 3 years it has 8411 words right now it has japanese word and what it means on japanese.
Im the only one user who reviews/update this course for 3 years and still do this everyday and im starting to worry that someday i wake up and it will be deleted or not moved to “new world” and i wont gonna have any tools to transfer it to somewhere else. Can you give atleast any guarantees that user created courses will not be deleted in future?
Community mnemonics for the Japanese courses are a giant reason i use Memrise. They make learning that much faster.
Dont even get me started on multiple choice…
I would gladly pay for something like a community-content subscription.
A real shame
Thank you. I will look there again tomorrow, since I switched back to classic mode and did all of my reviews for today already.
I wonder who decided to hide this very helpful and frequently used feature? Trying to overtidy up the site?
I suppose the same people who decided that it is appropriate to hide a choice of learning/reviewing options behind a clickable menu. And also remove color differentiation of interface elements which used to help navigate the site
It seems that the first impression of newcomers is much more valued here than the quality of life of people who actually stay to use the site.
It seems to be a lovely course that you’re working on. Would you consider publishing the course so that other Japanese learners could benefit from it? It seems that the course is private now.
I made literally dozens of Japanese courses (for self study) with thousands of words. It says something about the direction the site is going in that I deleted my entire account (and I assume the courses I created will be likewise gone) without a second thought.
I never published it because words are very random and depends on what things i watched/read and there is alot of very rare words/諺 and such stuff so learning them without context will be painful. I doubt someone will like learning some simple worlds like 警察 and next word will be 釣瓶縄井桁を断つ which i doubt even alot of japanese people would know this kotowaza
Even if in “some future” memrise gonna delete this courses i want to know so i can prepare atleast tho i dont know what i can do or give us option to download our courses with all data so we can import it to anki or something since there is addons for anki that do that but they are not working and havent been updated for months.
If the courses have been published, then they would remain on the site for others to learn, appearing to be created by a “deactivated account”. I’m not sure about private courses though (whether you could reactivate your account and regain access to them).
So, I am looking again for my classic review and opened the right sidebar. It still doesn’t show up. All I see is my friends and a “more” link that takes me to the Leaderboard. Where’s my review button??
How do I get this watering can to show up for me? I can only do classic reviews by going into each course. I want an overview like I used to have.
Did you switch to a specific language?
The global review button wouldn’t show for general categories such as “With goal set” or “Recently learned”.
