I have noticed this today as well. It wasn’t with all words, but I got three easy pronunciation words wrong (genki, abunai, and hee). Excuse my inability to post the Japanese equivalents as I am on my phone.

I have the same issue… Words I’ve encountered with this are 兄 and なんでもいいですよ.

I’ve been having the same issue. I use it on my phone (Google Pixel 4a), and every word containing a “い” sound will give me the “not quite”.

Can you please confirm the course, level, and item(s) this happens with? If you could also let us know which device you are using, which OS you are running and which version of Memrise you are using (you can find this information at the bottom of your Settings in the app), that would be great.

I can add another word that is giving me problems with pronunciation: 知る (Japanese 1, Android, 2.94_25040_memrise). When I listen to the example pronunciation and compare it to my own, there’s very little difference, but the exercise will not accept it.

I also have encountered other problems but I have been having a login issue for quite some time so I could not report them.

  • Description of the issue: in German for English speakers course, some words do not recognize pronunciation and mark correct pronunciation as wrong. If I play back what it recorded of my attempt, it sounds just like the pronunciation from the example in the course itself. I’ve noticed it with the German words for 1945, 1000, 2000, 2019. There were one or two in the holiday survival kit as well but I can’t recall which it was. No matter how many times I repeat the word and try to tweak my pronunciation it doesn’t help.

Not sure if this is japanese specific, but seeming as Memrise Support are on this thread and there is a German for English course…

  • Description of the issue: in Icelandic 1, I am attempting the pronunciation exercises. A lot of them are fine, and some I have to tweak how I say to get it perfect. I could not get “þu hefur fallegan hreim” to work. I then recorded it from the example and played it back. That also failed. It is the primary reason I purchased Memrise, and is frustrating, to say the least, when you can’t get it correct after 20-30 tries. There is no indication of where the problem lies. Which word it is, or which part of the word is incorrect.

Hi @svartalfar66, thanks for your post. Unfortunately, Icelandic 1 is an old Memrise course which is no longer supported. As such, though you can still access it, it may contain errors or not work as intended as you have experienced. We’re really sorry that your learning is affected by this. I noticed a similar issue in Polish 2.
It seems all the phrases containing numbers are not recognized no matter how to pronounce them. And all other words/phrases are fine, so this is not just my bad pronunciation.

Memrise version: 2021.9.22.0
Device: Xiaomi Redmi 9
Android 10.

That seems to be the case indeed. We’re currently investigating the issue on our end and hope to have a solution available asap.

In the meanwhile, please consider learning items in a different level :slightly_smiling_face:

Issue is also with Portuguese (Portugal) 1 and 2 (I haven’t progressed any further).
Frequently, the Pronunciation mode will not accept the correct pronunciation. The problem is intermittent. When it happens, it will not even accept the pronunciation given by the Memrise voice.

Example, most of the numbers in the following lesson do not work:
