Official Japanese Course redesigned?

I started learning Japanese slowly more than a year ago… from Japanese 1, Japanese 2 to Japanese 3.
Yesterday I finally finished Japanese 3, but to my surprise, the app didn’t prompt me to advanced to Japanese 4.
I followed the “Add a Course” link and found Japanese now seems to have been redesigned. It now has 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7, but the cover images are different from the Japanese 1, 2 & 3 that I did.
I had a rough look at the contents of the new course 1, and it seems to me that content is a bit different as well.
So I wonder whether I should start Japanese 4 regardless, or I should restart from Japanese 0?
Is there any official guidance on this?

Hi @Awe1some

I answered a similar post and the link is: Multiple versions for same Japanese level course - #4 by Milamy

EDIT: I tried to make an explanatory diagram

EDIT 2: Memrise changed course figures (updated April 28, 2020)

Thank you so much for your detailed explanation. Now I know what are to be expected. I’ll start from Japanese 0, always feeling that the original course was missing katakana and kanji. Let alone to say, the new content sounds more real life like and more fun. :heart_decoration:

Hey, @Milamy

Is the any notion of when the next levels will be revised?

Hi @MariusHD

KanaTsumoto (Japanese Language Specialist at Memrise) answered a similar question, and said that it is not possible to set a date.
