I just created my first cause a few days ago and I have some questions. Is there a delay after you make the course public before others can see it? I sent a link to my husband and it would not take him to the course. Also when I searched for it in the app, I couldn’t find it. Next problem: I edited a word, but the old incorrect word still seems to be in the answer “database”. This isn’t a problem for this particular word, but there are others I want to change. I added the article “al” before some words but not before others. ex: al Hadeeqa for garden instead of just Hadeeqa. If I change it, will both Hadeeqa and al Hadeeqa come up in the possible answers? That would be too confusing. http://www.memrise.com/course/1172452/easy-arabic-reader/
did you make the course “public”?
and yes the database needs time to update and has ghost entries - the deleted ones; to this problem memrise did not give an answer until now…
There a script by @DrewSSP that solves the problem with the deleted answers still appearing, but the usage is somewhat advanced.
Yes it is set to public.
Your link works for me. I’ve found when I’ve published a course it appears pretty quickly on the website. Unless things have changed it gets added to the bottom of the list so there might be a lot of scrolling down to get to it. The search function isn’t always great for finding things!
I don’t think a course needs to be public for someone else to use it if you give them the link. There may be a benefit in not publishing it before you’ve made the course since changing the status of the course used to ‘update’ the database so previously edited versions were removed. (this used to work - it hasn’t seemed to recently though.)
I would suggest making edits to the pages in the database rather than via the levels page to minimise ghost entries, and to overwrite entries rather than delete them.
Thanks! I’m glad the link worked for you. I will overwrite the entries rather than delete them. It was only some words in the first level anyway. I don’t imagine that many people will use this course anyway. I mainly made it for myself and a few classmates. So I could always give them a heads up about any quirks they may encounter.
