New web dashboard is now available in Beta!

Hi @TetraShiva. You mentioned not being able to press enter to move quicker through a session. We’ve tested this on all modes and can see that the enter key is working as before. Can you confirm if this is still an issue for you and if so, what browser you are using and on what mode this occurs? Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

Hai,

What I meant is that I can’t see my ‘Accuracy’ and ‘Current streak’ anymore in the new version when doing a review or practicing difficult words. And difficult words get automatically removed once practiced. In the screenshots you can see the title ‘Accuracy’ and ‘Current streak’ and under them the scores. The new (beta version) doesn’t have this.

To summarize, the following three features I would like to see back again in the new version:

  • Accuracy
  • Current streak
  • ‘no’ automatic removal of difficult words

Hey. My apologies, as I rarely use the forums.

Unfortunately, I cancelled out of the beta and exed out of the prompt to use the beta. I could find some way to go back to the beta and check, but honestly I’m pretty busy and I’m just going to dive into the new version at the start of the year and see what happens. If you all have fixed it: great! Thanks. That will probably help keep me around after the change. Though whether or not my courses survived the transfer and if I can exclusively use typing to speed through my lists will also be a factor.

At any rate, no one is blaming support, and we appreciate the work you put in. Thanks.

@Laurentius1995 apologies for misunderstanding. I see now you mean on the end of session screen. I’ve logged this feedback now along with the request to revert manually added difficult words to the way they worked before.

Yes, thanks

A post was merged into an existing topic: An Update on Beta Learning Sessions

Hello,

I see that after my feedback the difficult words are still automatically removed from the difficult words list. Is Memrise still going to change the use of the difficult words back to the way it was?

There is no timer on classic review, afaik.

I will vehemently fight against forcing everyone to use typing-only. It’s nonsensical for beginners. And reading is just as important as typing and speaking and listening.
Instead, make two options, one for the mixed MC and typing and listening, and another for typing-only practice. Or… after seeing the word after a while, doing typing only for that word.

It appears you can still mark words as difficult on classic review. Marking difficult words on speed review would be a clunky user experience, since speed review is by definition timed.

Finally, whether the CoolJingle’s All Typing userscript works depends on if the developer for that tool actually fixes the tool or not. It’s the developer of that tool’s responsibility to handle that, since it is third-party. Memrise can add the functionality themselves, and it would probably be better than 3rd party stuff, but memrise has no control over 3rd party tools themselves.

I can have only 4-6 new words in a level and I have to go through them twice to completely fill the little bars which makes the above problem even more irritating.

You can set this in settings:

@Krixano … I wasn’t clear. I meant that there were only 4-6 new words to learn in the level (by design) and the beta made me go through it twice to complete the bars whereas the old way it does the entire thing in one go. While it’s only one extra step when multiplied by learning new words on multiple levels it adds too much time to my learning sessions. Note that I separate my verb conjugations into different levels because that’s what works for me.

Ah, ok. Sorry. That makes sense.

Maybe I am just doing stuff wrong. But in the old version, if you put in a correct solution, it was recognized as such and pressing “enter” immediately took you to the next page.

Now it seems, that pusing “enter” does nothing. One has to wait a second (half a second?) for the next screen. When reviewing a couple hundred words this sums up to minutes uselessly waiting for the next screen to come up. Please revert that. Thank you.

What device and browser are you on?
The return key enters an answer and skips to the next page as expected for me using Chrome on a mac.

What is bothering me is the HUGE delay between Between entering - be it automatically accepted or by pressing return key. There used to be an immediate skip to next page and not a delay of half a second. This is really annoying.

When something is entered automatically when it is correct. I expect the return key to forward me to the next page immediately. That does not happen, so I hammer return key and next one is entered empty.

I simply do not want to wait that long between words. Horrible waste of time If there is a few hundred items to go through.

There is a bug in firefox that we’re looking into. On every other browser the enter key behaves as you describe.

Indeed, works fine with chrome. Thanks!

Hi ! Do you have any news about the difficult words ? Are they going to make it as it was ? I have been writing them for a week and all I got is silence … I hate what they have done to difficult words

That feature was removed, but I asked the same question and learned that you can mute the tab of the page you’re on (at least in Firefox) by right-clicking on the tab. Also, you can use Control-M to mute/unmute in Firefox. I don’t know whether the same options are available in other browsers.
