Locked Levels - Can’t progress from “Launchpad”

I have been having trouble progressing from “Launchpad” to “I come in peace” for weeks now. I have friends that also have an iPhone and do not have any issues progressing. Anyone know why this is happening or what I could do about it? I can see how Memrise would be great for learning a language if it worked properly. Whenever I try to click on the next level, in this case it would be “I come in peace,” I’m expected to pay for it because it says it’s locked. I have gone over “launchpad” literally 40 times just to see if there was a glitch and maybe eventually I would be pushed forward to the next level. Is this how they scam some people into paying for Memrise? I know that my friend - who also has this App on their iPhone - has not had to pay. Any suggestions?

This has been a problem for many months, which has been reported by many users, but the Memrise developers have refused to acknowledge it.

You can see the past reports in this thread: Learning Words isn't free? and this thread: Everything is Locked After Level 1.

Given Memrise’s silence about the issue, my only suggestion is that you report the problem to Apple, as explained here: Everything is Locked After Level 1.

That’s helpful, thanks so much for replying. Does Apple contact Memrise with my concern? Wondering what Apple can do if it’s not their issue.

You’re welcome.

I doubt that Apple will respond to each problem report individually, but I think that if enough people contact Apple, they will eventually contact Memrise and get them to fix this problem.

Apple has tremendous power and leverage over Memrise, as a developer who wants to market their App in the App Store. Apple can tell them that if they fail to correct the problem and bring their App into compliance with the rules, they will remove it from the App Store.

Apple takes its reputation very seriously, and wants to ensure that their customers have a positive experience when using any App that they put on an Apple device. That’s why they don’t allow buggy, defective, or misleading apps in their store, and they do eventually take action when they find them.

It’s obvious, at least to me, that Memrise is doing this deliberately, and doesn’t care about the users’ complaints, so we have no leverage over them. Thus, our only option is to complain to Apple, who does have the power to make them listen, and hope that they take action soon, because this has been going on for far too long.

Again, that’s helpful, I’ve never run into a problem with an app before. I will contact Apple and see what they can do. Thanks for your help!
