Hello,
I noticed that there’s a bit of a problem with audio in Lithuanian language course
The volume on some words is very low. When I use headphones, it always makes me jump a bit because it’s like the lady in the lesson is whispering at me so I need to turn up the volume the the sound that plays when you answer will be very high and that’s hurt my ears.
The audio (in some words) is very delayed. It’s almost/more than half a second delay and that’s a big problem when you are using speed review. I can hear the speaker breath then she would speak.
I’m still on Lesson 3 of the Lithuanian course so I’m not sure if there’s more.
Here are examples of the delays and low volume.
naujas (delayed, low volume)
susutikimas (VERY delayed)
knyga (delayed, low volume)
and more.
Can you provide a link to the course you are talking about?
Most courses on Memrise are ‘‘user created’’ so there isn’t an easy way of fixing things unless the course creator is active on these forums. But there are some things that can be tried…
I never know this course is created by a user. (It never shows in the app and I never use Memrise website before.) Thought that all language courses are created by Memrise and kinda get irritated because I paid for the PRO membership.
I would like to apologize to the user who created this course if I come out as too harsh and thank you for taking time to create the course. It’s amazing and I learn a lot.
Thank you, leggi, for answering and thank you, benmorgan72 for creating the course.
one pays “pro” for the extra-features offered by memrise - memrise is a so called fremium site; benmorgan72 and other course creators - who are not part of the memrse team - don’t get a penny… so, I’d be greateful for getting that course for free, in fact…
It’s not obvious that a lot of the courses on Memrise are made by users, and the quality can vary greatly.
Benmorgan72 isn’t registered on this forum, and I don’t think he’s active on Memrise anymore @Lien could you check?
To fix things, someone needs to have a look at the audio files and see if they are fixable (download, edit, re-upload?) I’m out of my depth with what you can do with audio. maybe @DW7 or @Arete_Hime could advise?
Otherwise, someone able to record new audio would be the way to go, but it’s finding someone to do it!
Assuming this is indeed a problem with the courses and not with your device, there are some labor-intensive things you could do. But the easiest would be to simply turn off the extraneous sounds of the app (if that’s possible) and turn up the volume, or to switch to the website and turn up the volume.
If that’s not possible, you could consider asking Lien to make you a contributor and modifying the course yourself (or ask someone - not me, as I don’t yet know how - very nicely to modify it for you).
You can then download the audio using the “Indonesian method” linked to from here: [wiki] All the Userscripts
I have emailed the course creator. Hopefully he can join us here soon!
If he’s no longer active on Memrise and/or hasn’t replied by the beginning of October, would any of you be interested in taking over?
Hello all.
I’ve been away from Memrise for some time so thanks for the email. I see that the forums, etc. have all changed so I’ll need to reorientate. By the way, have my old course forums been deleted? Sorry to hear about the audio issues. My Lithuanian course was always a work in progress, especially the audio! I will try to find time to work on it again. Let me know if you have other issues or comments.
Ben.
There seems to be a problem with the exercise where you click on the words to arrange them. It always tells me “jis/ji yra” is wrong–same with “jie/jos yra.” I wouldn’t make a stink about it, but the program is designed to make you re-do everything you get wrong, and I’m getting pretty tired of getting this “wrong.”
