Getting the most out of each Memrise session

I’m curious as to what tactics people use to get the most out of each Memrise session.
I know if I’m not completely focussed I will just do the minimum to finish the session/complete the goal for the day. But when focussed I try to repeat the word as soon as I see it or its English equivalent (assuming I know the answer). Then I’ll try and repeat it before I move onto the next one, so I’ve at least had speaking practice (x2) as well for each word.

This is, I guess an attempt to avoid my one issue with Memrise, which is that it can easily become very academic.

Does anyone have any special rituals they try to use?

one thing which seems to help me a lot is not to plough straight through all the revisions, but to do them in tranches (I do 10 words at at time), and then do something else, even it it’s just writing an email or ticking through a list, and then go back for the next one. the on/off/on effect works much better for me than revising hundreds of words in one long set.
your mileage will vary…

When learning/planting, I repeat the mems in my head as I answer each question. (Details here.)

When reviewing/watering, I like to quietly say each word outloud before answering and again after hearing the audio. It’s great for improving pronunciation!
