Early Access for everyone!

What do you mean here with the reverting?

On the web I noticed a change in the community courses interface the last few days. Category filtering still works the same but the results filtering at the top doesn’t give an overall number of items to review anymore.

By the way: does this happen on Early Access or on Classic?

Early access.

“Reverting” - I meant switching back from Early Access back to Classic for Community courses.

Sad to hear there are changes the web access version.

PS

I though it was on our Community Courses - not on their Official Courses on Early Access!

No, my screen shots and screen recording were all from official courses on early access.
But today I haven’t come across this multiple choice issue fortunately.

it does, you have just to wait “a tiny bit”

Hi everyone,

I switched to the early access version a couple of days ago. I’ve been following both the official and unofficial Korean courses, but I’m a bit puzzled about how to access the Pronunciation feature in the new format. Do I need to wait for it to appear in the “Ready for review” section, or has it been removed altogether?

Also, as I’m still doing the community courses, should I keep syncing my progress each time I switch between the early version and the regular one, or could this potentially affect my official course streak?

I don’t have a link at hand, but the core-statement (which Memrise officially announced somewhere) is that there are no streaks on Early Access (likewise, there are no leaderboards). As a result you will not preserve your streak when doing sessions on EA (you do on Classic).

They said that they were planning to come up with something like a streak some time in the future, but it didn’t get less nebulous than that, so one can probably presume that it might take quite a lot of time until streaks on EA will be replaced with “something”.

I tried switching between EA and Classic for a while, but it just takes too much time and if you, like me, work on several languages in subsequent order, it just costs way too much time to switch between the two, even if you don’t care about a streak (well, yes - I do actually, it helps me to stay disciplined!).

EDIT:

I found the offical statement regarding streaks (see 3. in the posting):

And, on the same thread, here’s James’ other statement about the future of streaks and the absence of leaderboards:

There is already some kind of streak, probably called learning progress in English, for every official course separately.
I have six going right now, from three base languages to two target languages.

Olaf, thanks a lot for the detailed response!

Yeah, the switching can be quite annoying, right? The streak also helps me stay on track, to be honest. I never really checked out the leaderboards.

When it comes to the Early Access version, I really like the “Immerse” (videos) section the most. However, in the old version, I mostly went for the “Pronunciation” feature because it helped me remember vocabulary the best.

I’m kinda torn about which version to stick with now because the streaks in the early and old versions don’t match up anymore. Plus, I miss the Pronunciation feature in the Early version. I hope they don’t drop it in the future. I don’t think the “Communicate” section can replace it.
So, I guess I’ll have to go back and forth for a while…

Quite interesting. Too bad they don’t care about announcing changes. The support account seems to still be active (albeit rather sporadically), but whoever is in charge of it is posting next to nothingat all.

Off topic - but thrilled we’ve got access to the Forum again.

Thanks guys for sorting it out.
