[Course Forum] Spanish Duolingo by zippy9z

Will do

they added 59 new lessons!

Hey there,

Firstly, I want to say thank you for putting together such a helpful course. The combination of Duolingo Spanish and Memrise has been really useful.

Duolingo have now tweaked the course a bit and have added new lessons. Are you able to add them into the course?

Hi Samuel,

I am no longer maintaining the course myself, but I am allowing users who are interested to do so themselves. If you’re interested, let me know and I can set you up as a collaborator to add the new lessons.

Hi Zippy,

May have access to edit the course? I think I found a bug that I can fix…

What’s the bug? If it’s a single issue, I can make the change.

I’m not sure if it’s affecting everyone or just me, but in level 1/“Basics 1”, “soy” doesn’t have an English translation, which I believe is causing the website to crash whenever I’m doing a review and “soy” comes up.

Fixed! Not sure how that happened.

Thanks! It looks like everything’s working for me again.

It was really frustrating at first because the website just crashed without giving any explanation. In fact, there are a couple of people who reported the behavior in the bugs section of the support forum. I think this was definitely the culprit though. I’ll report back if not.

Hello Zippy,

Sorry for the late response - I would definitely be interested in that.

Many thanks,

Samuel

Hey Zippy,

My username is SamuelDomenicoColombo86.

Great, I’ve added you as a contributor. You should now be able to edit the course.

UPDATE: In January 2020, I will no longer be adding members as contributors. At that point I will leave it up to you to contact the mods in order to get added.

From here on out, I will no longer be maintaining the course. Thank you to those of you that have used it all these years. If you wish to become a contributor, or take over the course, please message the Memrise mods and see if you can work something out. Adiós!

Is it possible to please add me as a contributor to this course? It is extremely useful as a complement to the Duolingo course. Many thanks to @zippy9z for creating it and maintaining it for so long. @MemriseSupport

Did you ever get a response? @MemriseSupport @zippy9z if someone could make me a contributor, I’d like to add the Travel level to the course, which is currently missing. Thanks

Memrise introduced a procedure for applying to be a contributor a while ago. Read about it here:

I’m not sure if this thread is still monitored, but these latest changes to the course have been really off-putting. A lot of duplicates to pre-existing terms have been added, and a lot of the new terms use looser translations or don’t follow the same patterns as the old terms. For example, “mamá” is translated as “mother”, but a more correct translation is probably “mom”. Another example is “sibling”, which is translated as “hermano/a”. This is probably the most correct direct translation, but previously English terms were almost always translated using the masculine form and with a definite article, e.g. “el hermano”. Consistency is key here, otherwise reviews are going to be nearly impossible trying to figure out if the term is in the old style or the new style. I just thought I’d give some feedback to help keep this course as good as ever. Thanks for your attention!

In unit 3 - Travel, “telefono” should be corrected to “teléfono”.

Based on the multiple choice, it appears that this word is probably a duplicate anyway.

Is there anyone still active here that can add me as a contributor? Thanks!
