I found that it wants me to put a space after my tilde, and will mark a lack of a space as incorrect, when the Japanese itself is correct!

The tilde (~) is a problem in several japanese courses I am taking too and I have to set anything that requires a tilde to Ignore unless I copy and past the tilde from the answer which is really a pain in the … .

I saw this thread when I was creating a thread for the whole katakana hiragana issue. I’m assuming the’ll just ignore this thread because of the title. I suggest you change the title to “Japanese 1: Feedback”, to they don’t just dismiss it out of hand

You can see the edit history of a post by clicking the orange pencil at the top-right of the post. I edited the title as I felt the original title was not descriptive enough. I’m considering now editing it again to make it either a [Site Feedback] or/and a [Course Forum] topic. For the rationale behind that see: Posting Guidelines and Forum Housekeeping -- a How To for Memrise staff, regulars, leaders, and members I feel like this topic doesn’t fall all that neatly in either category so I’m not yet sure what to do.
Also consider this dubious stance from Memrise staff on the matter:
So you could consider renaming this topic to make it a [Course Forum] topic, or someone might take it upon themselves to create such a topic, if it doesn’t already exist.

Someone might have mentioned this already but I just noticed a mistake when you are asked to write “what’s up” in Japanese - if you write “ちようしはどう” it is marked as incorrect and has the correct answer being romaji “choushiwa dou”

Wait, so its actually “choushi”? I was so confused when I tried typing it cause I read the hiragana that way, but it always got marked as incorrect. 
The double consonant errors can be really annoying, thats also how I found this topic.
But at least I know I can use “tsu” to get it marked as right now, thanks! 
Edit: Apparently most words with combinations like “じゃ” for JAgaimo(potato) are marked as incorrect. I have to type “jiyagaimo” to get a correct answer.

Get yourself an IME for Japanese characters. It avoids all the incorrect romaji, and will get you used to hiragana.

Japanese 2 Level 7: words for tea
I think it would be important to differentiate between おちゃ and こうちゃ; students learnt おちゃ as tea in Japanese 1, only to be told that こうちゃ is tea in Japanese 2 with no explanation as to why they are different. Listing them as green tea and black tea, respectively, would negate a lot of confusion.
(Perhaps also differentiate between ちゅうもん and ごちゅうもん.)

I have to agree. Telling users the difference between the two would be mighty useful.
Maybe they haven’t done so to encourage students to research it themselves, which could help the knowledge stick better in their long term memory?

I don’t think it would be fair to expect students to do that without any prompting. The student may simply think there is an error in one of the courses, rather than think they are two separate words!
Side note: I dislike that をおねがいします and をください are not interchangeable. It’s annoying having to remember which one is used for which phrase in the review sessions! (e.g. こうちゃをください and ぎゅうにゅうをおねがいします; should it really matter if I switch the “please” being used?)

In the Japanese 2 course, Level 6, some questions have multiple choice answer duplicates. For “Of course I speak English”, all the multiple choice answers are the same (the correct one, at least); and for “I speak a little Japanese” (audio question), all incorrect options are the same (I think it was “I speak English”). This makes these questions far too easy to answer, or it takes too long to answer the question when you have to read through all the options trying to spot discrepancies, and the question times out.

A word in Level 6 Where in the Universe? has recently been changed to おらんだご(Netherlands) instead of いぎりす(England) and えいご(English).
I have those three ignored at the moment, but I hope you fix this soon.

I just came here to say the same thing! I think it’s a recent change, because when I initially completed the level it was still えいご; but in the revision session I just did it had changed to おらんだご.
English by itself is still えいご, though.
Perhaps this is some kind of weird joke?

I’m Japanese 1 level 3 and I systematically come across the same bug.
I’m asked to type the Japanese for the French word bonjour (Hello). When, for every other word I can type in Romaji, for こんにちはthe only way to have a correct answer is to type in hiragana. How am I supposed to do that? 
Edit: By going further into the lessons I encounter other “bugs” of the same kind. For instance Fu can only be typed in ふ in order to be correct.
