Hi @Lavapa
In both levels 12 and 13 there is to try to - cercare di and provare a. Can you add something to distinguish them as you can’t tell which is which when reviewing. Thanks
It seems like lavapa is not yet a user of this forum
I thought he would at least be sent an email as I put his user name in the post
and hoped that he would then use the forum.
Hi @sandslane
l I thought he would at least be sent an email as I put his user name in the post
and hoped that he would then use the forum.
I think that would be nice.
See:
and two posts later.
Sadly I’ve not had an answer.
As I see it. For now, if you haven’t confirmed your account/email with this forum (you have to activate it because it is separate from memrise learning environment) nobody can’t send you a mail.
I knew about this forum before (maybe 2 month ago), but I hadn’t got a clue that its separate thing, so activated my forum account only recently
I agree it would be nice, if someone sent everybody a mail. I didn’t know they were changing the forum system. I didn’t got an email. Or maybe it was sent to trash. What I like about this forum format is that everybody is together and you can send direct messages and tag users to get their attention
I must have been mistaken then. I read somewhere I can’t find where that an email would be sent if you put @ and the user name but you are probably correct in that it is possibly only people who have signed up to the forum.
I’m finding that the how to instructions for the forum are all over the place. Links all over the place one of the reasons I couldn’t find the info I had read before! What is needed is a clear straightforward information page. Not everyone who uses memrise is techy (me included).
I have just spotted a bookmark link at the top of the page - in future I’ll save things I find!
Yes, you have to be a member of this community to get a mail. If you’re trying to tag someone @sandslane, and start typing a name, system only gives the ones it has. And then it becomes a link. Just like it happened with your username. In your settings you can alter when and how you’re going to be notified about things happening here
It would have been so easy to have all of these things clarified in just a few sentences.
I think it would be good if MemRise notified all users of the change and new Forum especially as the “Forum” link from courses has gone.
I’ve going to encourage them to ‘Tweet’ such a message.
@Atikker, @DW7
They could have a small area on the dashboard at the top where they could put breaking news with a link to details. - eg ‘New Memrise Forum’ should do the trick.
In addition to the “provare a”/“cercare di” (to try to) issue, I am having the same problem with “fare una chiacchierata”/“fare quattro chiacchiere” (to have a chat). Would it be possible to add these to the accepted alternates for each term?
Hi @mkcrockett,
I have renamed this thread to make it clearer that it’s @lavapa 's course, but as stated above he is not active in this forum.
Could @lien (or one of the MemRise team) let us know if he (or a contributor) is still active on the learning area and make him aware of this thread, please?
I do NOT wish to become a contributor, but perhaps one of those posting to this thread might consider it?
Hi @DW7
Yeah, I saw that @lavapa doesn’t appear to be active, but I figured that it couldn’t hurt to comment anyway (after getting the question wrong during review for the 50th time, haha). Unfortunately, I’m not interested in becoming a contributor either, but hopefully someone else will consider it.
Level 3:
entrarci = to matter, to be relevant
I thought “entrarci” meant something like “for one to enter in” from "entrare"and “ci”.
An on-line translation says “[to] go in there”.
As sadly embedded course Forums have gone and as we can’t (at present) get in touch with someone supporting this course and there are lots of other courses I will not be studying this course.
I have emailed the creator to invite them to this conversation. Hopefully we’ll hear back soon!

The ending ci on verbs changes the meaning and to matter/ to be relevant is correct. Look at this internet page.
It’s not too big a course so if Lavapa isn’t active I don’t mind doing any alterations.
Thanks @sandslane,
I see that page says:
entrare (to enter)
entrarci (to have to do with something)
Perhaps it means something like ‘entering’ or ‘relevant’ (as in the course text).
Guess I’ve learnt a lot but never came across that one before.
