[Course Forum] First 5000 Words of Spanish: Top Up #1 by ian_mn

I think you could leave it in the course and put “potentially offensive” in parentheses.

Here’s a helpful article from Argentina:

As a language learner, I want to be able to understand words that I will hear in movies. But as a teacher, this is not the word that I would want to use in a discussion with parents about their child’s learning.

Thanks for digging into this.

I’ve added “(potentially offensive)” to all “disabled, handicapped” English definitions for:

minusválido (TU#1/L4
el minusválido (TU#3/L7)
inválido (TU#7/L14)
impedido (TU#8/L7)
discapacitado (TU#8/L10)

Based on some quick web surfing, it appears that the English language is also evolving in the same direction.

If you notice anything else like this, please let me know and I’ll make the necessary changes.

Edit: I also just checked “First 5000 Words of Spanish” by xoviat and there are no disabled or handicapped items included there.
