Are these courses still maintained?
I’m at chapter 63 currently, but I’ve had this confusion since the first time I saw the word. “Imigh” is translated to English as “went off”. I can’t get my head around it. Going off is what bombs and angry mums do, right? Doesn’t “imigh” just mean “leave”? Is “going off” an Americanism perhaps? I’m really struggling to memorise these phrases because of the awkward translation.

I hope this thread is not quite dead. Like Edwin I wonder whether this course is still maintained, I hope so. Anyway I noticed a mistake in the 121–130 course in the sentence Beimid ag caint lena mhúintir amárach “We will be speaking to his people tomorrow”: it should be mhuintir, not mhúintir.
In the 1-20 course when doing reviews the options for “thank you” include “Go raibh maith agat.” and " go raibh maith agat". Same problem with " tá sé a sé a chlog"

Sorry, folks, for not replying on this thread earlier. I thought I had set things up so that I would get an email when someone commented on one of these course, but apparently not. Thank you all for your pointing out of typos - I’ll get onto checking them out and correcting them. It’s a bit of a different issue with d’imigh sé. We’ve tried very hard to have each English word suggest the correct Irish one (for example, we use “also” in English, even when it sounds a little clumsy, to indicate freisin, and “as well” to indicate chomh maith). This is to avoid, as far as possible, the frustration of typing an appropriate translation, and having it marked incorrect. Because d’fhág sé is generally translated as he left, we wanted a different translation for d’imigh sé. And the original booklets, on which these courses are based, often use he went off or he went away for d’imigh sé, se I’ve tried to put both as alternatives each time it comes up. I may have missed some, though, for which I apologise!
Anyway, I’ll try and keep a closer eye on the forum, now I know I’m not getting notifications!

I was really enjoying this course, but since the new (unfortunate) update, I can no longer tell if I’m supposed to write the audio prompt in Irish or English.

Excellent courses. Really excellent. However, is there anything after 141-150? There seems to be something weird with Memrise search system (or maybe some of the later courses are not made ‘Public’?); sometimes it is necessary to use links in the course description to find the next one, etc.
Actually, I’d like to point out a few typos and questionable things I’ve come across so far as well (with the help by teanglann.ie).

Level 4
‘go dtí’ expects a question mark for automatic recognition by Memrise.
Level 8
‘ar’ and ‘nár’, maybe a little hint that past tense is expected?
Level 15
‘atá ann’, ‘it is’, without context almost impossible to guess.
51-60
Level 6
‘dí’, ‘to her’. Shouldn’t it be ‘di’, without a fada? Also sentences from ‘nár thug sé an t-airgead dí’ to ‘nár thug sé an cíos dí?’.

‘Beidh sí ag éiri amach arís go luath anois, le cuidiú Dé.’ Shouldn’t ‘éirí’ be with i-fada?

Level 16 as a whole. Actually no real issue with that as the next course is possible to find anyway.

Hi Serin,
Please could you click the ‘Audio mode enabled’ button on each of the Buntús courses you have created? (It’s in the course details section). I think this controls whether ‘Listening Skills’ exercises are available. Personally I find it much more valuable as practice to be required to translate into Irish, rather than to translate into English.

Methuen, thank you so much for making the rest of the courses. I had attempted to make one myself but only got up to lesson 170 and it took me forever. This has saved me so much time.
There’s an error in 180, the sentences ‘Shiúlamar abhaile trí…’ are translated as being in the present tense but they should be in the past tense. It should be ‘We walked home through’ instead of ‘We walk home through’

Hi! I hope someone is still on this thread! I am loving the Memrise Buntus Cainte course!
However, I’m hoping someone can help. Occasionally, it will say “English——>Irish.”
Other times, it simply says, “type what you hear.” The speech is in Irish. Sometimes, it wants you to transcribe the Irish, and other times to translate into English, and I am never sure which to do. If I choose the wrong one, it will count it wrong.
Is there a way to know? Any insight?
