If you want to download the full database to work on it yourself, the best tool I’ve found so far is to import the course into Anki.
I am using and completing a local copy of the course on my computer, that I could share as a CSV.
Any suggestions about where I could upload the CSV so that other people can also improve it ?
I could also upload the audio files i have.
Would you share the CSV with me? Preferably everything you have, the whole course with audio files. You can put it on dropbox, send.firefox.com, wetransfer.com or I can give you my email address.
Lately I’ve been thinking of creating my own flashcard app that would work more like Memrise than Anki, but still be as open as Anki and I’d like to include this course in it, because that’s what I’m learning with. And even if I change my mind, I’m still worried that this course will get lost someday, this required so much effort that it would be really bad if that was wasted.

It would be better to upload it in some kind of wiki where people who are interested can contribute to continue to improve it. Hopefully so that the database can be downloaded easily into a CSV and uploaded easily back into Anki. Any ideas?
About other ways of sharing a CSV, what do you mean by wiki? Some collaboration tool. Not sure if there’s such a thing. There’s git, but it’s hard to use. There are also sites like google docs which allow for collaborating on spreadsheets (most likely no audio), but I’m not sure if they have a setting that would prevent people from destroying the work of others, if not it could be somewhat fixed by backing up everything periodically. Sadly, I haven’t heard of anything that would cater to these specific needs.

I really enjoy this course and also bought the book because of it just wanted to note that a lot of words are missing in level 192 to 221, with lessons having 3-5 words instead of the 15+ they are supposed to have. Is there a reason for this? Or any way to fix it? Thank you for your help and keep up the good work
I’m not using this course any more, but I think the problem is the same as last year:
The number of words per level is a consequence of 2 actions:
1/ the second half of the book was entered (by a nice person I don’t know) in alphabetical order instead of frequency order, and
2/ later (a couple of year ago) I started to reorganize them by level according to frequency order (from the book). But I stopped working in the middle of that work, it is unfinished.
So some of the later levels have leftovers - and conversely, some levels have too many words.

I don’t think there is an automated way to fix this. I would suggest somebody continues the work I had started and maintain the order of the book. An alternative way would be to just look for levels that have too many words, and move those words in no particular order.
Both operations are manual and time consuming.
On the other hand, the course is still quite good, they are only 100 to 200 words missing compared to the book, and a lot of them are properly entered.
In the late 700s, the entries stop having English “alts” - which makes entering the correct typed answer difficult and/or unsatisfying. It still seems to have, perhaps, hidden alts - typing the root letters mostly works (e.g., “sdr” for “chest”, صدر). I’d rather type something closer to a transliteration, though.
There’s a push-button Arabic alphabet that automatically appears below when typing is required, but I’m not really sure why the letters are in the order that they are - doesn’t seem to be alphabetical.
Can I request to become a contributor for this course? I am a university lecturer who teaches Arabic and have both found it useful for maintaining vocab and also set my students to use it, and it is great that it has native speakers reading the words for pronounciation.
After about 4000 words there end up being some words which are not disambiguated well in the prompts, leaving two or more possible appropriate answers without a prompt to tell you which the program is requesting (e.g. وفقا ل and حيالَ as responses to something like ‘in accordance with’’; no prompt on the entry for ملبس (clothes, dress, attire, not ثياب) to stop you typing لباس ; no prompt on entry for عقلي = mental to stop you typing ذهني , whose own entry tells you (mental, not عقلي). These are only small changes but would help avoid minor annoyance.
Thanks YAG, I can’t obviously see how to edit the deck - I’m not sure if that is because it didn’t work or because I don’t know how to access the editing page. I don’t have the ‘Edit Course’ button after I click on the course from the Dashboard, as appears on courses which I have created . Am I missing something?
Hi, Im doing the course now and its brilliant. Ive come across a few dialect words and Im wondering out of the 5k how many are Dia.? I will skip them as Im only interested in MSA. Also what do you suggest one does after this course in terms of vocab, are there more advanced decks or should one go straight to reading and listening to learn further. Idk if this is a good place to ask these questions, but thanks in advance.
