The program does not distiguish between le poulet (the meat) and la poule (the live animal). Sometimes it wants one answer and other times it wants the other answer. When it gives the English ‘chicken’, it should have a parenthetical explanation of which ‘chicken’ it is asking for.
It sounds like a content issue that has to do with the way the creator created the course.
