Can't download course offline

I came here to complain and I hadn’t realized it’s fixed!

Thanks

Hi, I am using Version 2.94_5933_memrise and the Android version 7.0 with lots of spare phone and SD card space left.
Unfortunately, despite being a pro member for over a year, I cannot download any courses. It takes forever and won’t start downloading. Eventually I always get this notice: “Please check your network connection and try again”.
Have tried restarting my phone, my Internet, etc. pp. Nothing is working. What do?

Is it by any chance a big course, for example, with lots of pictures? That might be a problem, Joshua indicated earlier; though it is not clear how we can know the size of a course or at which size it will break down.
I suggest to try with a really small course, or even better, create for a course with one item and see if downloads. And could you post the link of the course you’re trying to download - than I can try as well.

Hey. I tried different courses (for example “Russian 3” which is pretty big I imagine, but also smaller ones like “Who Said Me?” which don’t have videos at all). I also tried downloading courses like Russian 1 and 2 which previously worked to be downloaded on my old phone, yet now, despite having the newest Android system installed, they won’t download anymore.

If you would like to try out for yourself, you may use these for example:

Thanks in advance.

With me courses download in general fine. Now the catch is, I am using a version from August '17 (because of a bug accepting incorrect answers; I always make backups with Android Assistent, so I was able to roll back),

If it is for every course, you could try epecholdas’ solution (I don’t know it is a universal solution but if it works for you, it’s good to know for others with the same problem):

Then, i hate to ask and suggest, but have you already uninstalled, reinstalled the App?

You posted already the exact version numbers and error message, so if these two don’t help, we should ask Joshua. He has helped before.

I am having the same problem with a number of courses (including, but not limited to, https://www.memrise.com/course/2015470/happychildorguk-german/ and https://www.memrise.com/course/46/1000-words-of-elementary-german/). The error always reads as follows:

Download problem
Please check your network connection and try again

I have reinstalled the app twice and tried downloading over several different connections. Other courses have no issues with downloading.

Are these courses by any chance quite big, for example lots of graphics or video?
The German course is obviously around 1000 words. And the other one?

The other has 872 words. There are no multimedia levels there and I have several GBs of space available on my device.

I’ve just downloaded some Japanese courses with well over 7500 words between them with no problems.

I’m currently using version 2.94_6090_memrise on Android 5.1.1

OK, no multimedia levels. But multimedia levels are not downloaded (and actually not shown at all) in the App. In my question I was thinking more of pictures with the words - some people add extenstive, high res mems etc. I suppose you don’t have that either, otherwise you’d said so.

@Joshua - SqrtPi tries to download a course, but fails. It doesn’t seem that big. He is running a fairly new version of the Android App. Any suggestion what to do? Thanks in advance!
