Can't download any of my courses on my Android Phone

@MemriseMatty, there are 2 problems mentioned here. 1st. is the download problem the 2nd. is the freeze app problem. Can you let us know if the Memrise team is aware of this?

this is the error message received when trying to download
this is near instant, so its not a time-out
I’ve tried this on multiple networks which work for everything else, so despite the message this is not a network issue

Many thanks - We are aware of these 2 issue.

Offline Mode - We are currently investigating this cause, and will let you know if we are able to implement a solution that improves the download function / reverts it back to it’s original performance (developers are currently investigating).

App Performance Issues (i.e. Freezing) - We have been unable to reproduce these issues on our end. We will continue to investigate.

try longer courses, more than 4000 words.

Short ones are working OK.

just to quickly update here - the update which came down this week does not fix the downloading issue for me.
at the moment it looks like it works for small courses, but anything approach 1000 entries does not work, regardless of connection. And some of my courses are around 2000 entries, and cause substantial revision work which would be good to be able to do off-line

paging @MemriseMatty for visibility (you might already be aware of this of course, apologies in that case!)

Has the latest release solved this issue for anyone else? We have seen a drop in reports regarding offline mode error.

@mthierst What version are you running / what course are you trying this on?

@MemriseMatty I’m on 2.94_7701_memrise

the following courses don’t work for me (all used to previously)

(not sure why two display as links, and one with preview - ?)

It said that the course was downloaded but actually none of the words were downloaded.

Same problem. It started with a large arabic course. I thought I didn’t have space so I erased a lot from my phone. Still didn’t work. Erased the app and reinstalled it. I could download small courses only. Erased the app and reinstalled it. I can’t download anything anymore. Any clue? I miss the simpler memrise.

I still can’t download any of the language courses over 450 words. And that’s with the latest version 2.94_7701_memrise.

I cant download even a small courses. I tried to download “Japanese 0” to my phone, but if I am not online it is stuck on either loading screen or “warming the engines” screen. If I log off and log in again, the course is not downloaded. Reinstalling the app did not help either.

I have up to date Memrise app 2.94_7836_memrise
Android 8.1.0
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5

Same here. And that’s with the latest version: 2.94.7836_memrise.

@MemriseMatty any words on this problem getting solved soon?

I’ve asked our QA team and Developers to continue investigating these reports, as it seems like the previous fixes have not solved this issue. Unfortunately I do not have a time-line or status update. I will be happy to update you as soon as I hear back.

Please please please Memrise Team, find us a resolution.
We could do so much more learning with offline access. :+1:

Yay! Fixed with today’s update! Thank you!

Fixed for me too with the latest update. Thanks Memrise.

I second (third?) that - the new version fixes what was broken 2 or 3 updates back for me

@MemriseMatty,
from the 23 Japanese courses I am studying there are 2 courses that refuse to download. I did log out then back in with the latest Memrise version but still the same. v.2.94._7993_memrise

Sorry to hear this. Unfortunately I do not have a solution to this issue at this time. It’s likely due to the fact these are community created courses.

If you subscribed to Memrise Pro and cannot use Offline Mode, and would like a refund or to cancel your Memrise subscription, please let me know.

I hope this helps.

Memrise.
