Hi @MemriseMatty,

Of the five I reported in my post above, the following three havenā€™t been actioned:

https://www.memrise.com/user/gokhankurt/
https://www.memrise.com/user/jan20911/
https://www.memrise.com/user/Robbymcc/

Is it not possible to remove all these people as ā€œfollowersā€ as part of the clean-up action?

Thank you for reporting this. We reviewed the majority of the Spam Mems, but some have clearly slipped our net. We will review these cases mentioned and keep you updated.

Yeah. Also ive just noticed once one started following my alternate account. More and more kept coming. Really hope this stops as this is getting out of hand. I deleted the account but it didnt matter as it only had 500,000 points

they just wont stop comingā€¦ needs to be eradicated

I agree with the concept of ā€œapprovingā€ followers (and being able to remove any that followed you before such a system is/was implemented), due to the above described issue. >_<

Thank you for these cases. We have released some new internal features which should prevent this type of content being created moving forward, and we are now working on retrospectively erasing these existing Mems.

Hi

Please can you remove these users. Two students showed me how these users are advertising sexual websites during our lesson today. Not great.

Thank you

I got something like 15 of those accounts following me. I think memrise should make it a requirement to reach a million points or so before the follow feature is unlocked.

I got one too:

@MemriseMatty

Ok, this is a new thing. Didnā€™t know this was such an issue so I looked into my followers and hereā€™s what I found

https://www.memrise.com/user/Pikathulhu/

This is the first time Iā€™ve had one of these following me. :unamused: Delete it.

And canā€™t you add some sort of thing to stop these bots, as they are getting irritating.

Got some that are following me too.

just clicked on a few of these links and they are still active - great job there memrise - the public are even giving you the accounts to shutdown and your ignoring them!

I know! Itā€™s getting ridiculous. Please terminate these accounts or put in a system to stop them being created Memrise! As it seems we will NEVER get rid of themā€¦

It looks like the active links mentioned by yourself were all reported 1 day ago. Sometimes it can take a short period of time for us to review and remove links reported. These have now been deleted.

We have put in place a system to prevent spammy Mems. Most of these active Mems were generated before we released these prevention measures. Please see my post here on Oct 30th:

There should not be any new Mems created with spammy content. If you do see any recent ones (i.e. ā€œSpam mem created 15 days agoā€) please let me know.

We can confirm we have bulk removed other Mems which slipped through the net (prior to new tools being released).
