I can confirm this happens on Firefox too. You have to exit the Japanese IME by pressing Enter in order for Memrise to detect the answer. This was not required previously, and Memrise was able to detect the answer as you were typing it. It’s very tedious and time-consuming to have to do this with every single word.
Hi all, you will need to hit enter for answers to be submitted when using an IME keyboard. This was introduced to fix a bug where answers input with an IME keyboard were duplicated. See here.
I would like to think there would be a better solution to a bug other than breaking a function.
Worked perfectly fine in the old version. So technically its possible .
Will this be the end of this report, or could a dev maybe take a second look?
Sorry, but I think this solution is not satisfactory at all. I bet the bug described on that link affected a tiny percentage of users, yet this fix (disabling automatic verification and requiring to hit Enter) is a huge slowdown on reviews that affects everyone. If possible, please try to explore a way to enable it again, since it was not problematic for most users and degrades UX so much.
Hi all, I’ve opened a new bug report for this with our web team (internal code WEBSITE-3385). I’m afraid I can’t estimate how long an update for this will take as it will need to be prioritised against other bug fixes and improvements. Thanks for your patience
