[App Feedback] desperately needs simple feature to skip an item you already know

Hey guys, hope this is a good place to post a simple but powerful feature request.

I’ve been loving memrise for the last two months. The repetition and reviewing works so well to commit new knowledge to memory, but I get so frustrated when there’s an item on a course which I already know well, I still have to go through all the repetition and reviewing. It wastes so much time which could be spent on new learning.

For example, I want to be able to identify all the flags of the world. Great, there’s a memrise course for that. It would work well for someone who knows no flags at all. But obviously I know quite a few already and I really want to learn the ones I don’t know. I gave up in the course when I was continually asked to repeat flags I least know - like the one for my own country.

All you need to do, is the first time a new item is introduced give the option to skip learning it. Perhaps it could just test you on it once to make sure it wasn’t a mistake, but after that it never gets repeated or reviewed.

I think this would speed up users who already know a little bit of a subject massively.

I’ve just finished the German 3 course and was considering taking the ‘5000 most common German words’ course but I’m sure I already know hundreds of them and can’t face the repetition.

I’m sure this would be a simple feature to implement and as a paying subscriber I wouldn’t mind if you made it a pro feature.

Thanks for reading and thanks for the app

If I understand correctly, you can use the ‘ignore’ feature to achieve what you’re looking for. When first being introduced to an item, there should be a button to ignore it, as seen here:

This will make the ignored item never show up for learning or review again, unless you un-ignore it later.

You can also ignore multiple items by going into a level’s page, and clicking the “Ignore” button below the green ‘learning’ button.
