there is everything fine with multiple word choice, but multipe image choice doesn’t work… Memrise shows only one pic to choose on web and nothing on mobile…

Hi,
I have taken a look at your course on the web, iPad and android phone app and can see what you mean. I saw the same results that you described but I’m not sure about what is causing it. I also looked at your ‘illustrated Polish vocabulary’ course and got the same problem. Which version of the app do you use?
I remembered someone else had a similar problem which was caused by ‘duplicate’ entries. It’s discussed in this other forum topic: Image multiple choice displaying same photo in all 4 boxes.
I am learning several image-based courses, some that I created and some created by others. For all of these, I only ever get shown one picture on both the web and on the android app. But, on my iPad, I get shown 4 different pictures to choose from on multiple-choice tests for all of these courses. Hi Alan,
Problem solved. Thank you very much. I removed duplicates and created a new course, because there must be some sync delay between what is in the database and what you learn.

no, it doesn’t. what is happening now is mind bending. I get questions based on entries I added before saving a list. e.g. I copied and paste “skipping rope” and memrise suggested a word which I by mistake accepted by pessing ‘enter’ (all before saving the list), and the word suggested now appears in the learning mode…
even though the ‘alien’ word has been deleted from the database…
Yes, that does sound strange. I’m not sure what’s happening there. I don’t know enough about how the databases work. Hopefully, someone who does will be able to help.

sadly, I think Memrise is kind of dead. I think they tried to rewrite the code with Decks, but somehow they didn’t manage to and now they want to get as much money as they can from Memrise (like they got kind of aggresive with marketing emails) and don’t really care about updates… I may be utterly wrong, though.
Is anyone familiar with another project to make your own vocab lists?

On the web, I have experienced a similar issue on many of the image based courses I look after. (Mostly plant courses.)
I even had to delete and add the same image back in, to make sure a more obvious image is presented.
I have even reported it as a problem in February 2018, but it was never picked up.

All I can say is on some testing modes you can scroll through the images on the web.

I think that’s a different issue to the one raised by the OP in this thread. The OP was describing the old bug where, when presented with a multiple choice question, it loads the same picture for all four options. It’s only in the iOS app where we get presented with multiple choice picture questions. No one on the Memrise team seems to want to address it.
If I have understood correctly, the issue you describe is the different one where an item has a number of different image files linked to it but the same one is always presented (as a single image) in reviews. It used to be the case that each time the item came up for review, the program would present the ‘next’ image file on a rotational basis. Now we get shown the same image but with left and right arrows so that we can scroll through them. A couple of years ago, Beatrisy fixed this bug but it came back when someone else later changed something else and it never got fixed again. I don’t think there is any desire at Memrise to look at this again. And maybe, if they did, it would break something else. I remember that someone else raised this again a couple of months ago but there was no response.

You are correct @alanh, but I thought two issue were raised.
Incidentally the arrows to show other images only works when presented with the image and have multiple choice text to choose from.
When shown the text and one has to choose one of 4, 6 or 8 images, the same image is always shown - and sometimes it’s not the best image, hence why I had to change the order of images.

The arrows work ok for me on typing tests. I don’t get presented with multiple choice tests on the web. Here’s an example of what I see:
I don’t ever see tests in that format on the web. With the android app, the multiple choice tests only ever display a single image (not sure if it’s always the same one that’s shown) and either 4 or 6 text options to pick from (never 8). With the iOS app, the multiple choice tests are either a single picture and 4 text options (never 6 or 8) or the text and 4 pictures (never 6 or 8). I would be interested to know what settings bring up the options you describe.

What I meant was if you have the image presented you can see them all (which actually makes it easier!).
I set up “Reversed” levels as well on ‘my’ courses, so in your case it would say Sudan (I think it is!) and then I would be presented with 8 African maps to choose from.
I wanna make a kickstart campaign to create a wordress plugin to make your own quizzes - a better verions of HD Quiz by Harmonic Design. I want it to contain all Memrise functionality (2 types of questions - multiplechoice and type in with all variations - picture/text/audio).
